Line Item Extraction - Toggle on/off

In this article you will learn how to turn off line item extraction per client or per supplier. 

It's not necessary for Jack to extract line items for every expense document, so we've built the capability to turn off this feature per client or per supplier.

Follow these simple steps to enable this feature: 

Step 1: Navigating to toggle settings 

  • Make sure you are in your client view
  • Click Settings menu
  • Click the Line Item Extraction Toggle tab

Step 2: Toggle on/off per client/supplier

  • Toggle Line Item extraction off for all suppliers

Step 3: Upload and Review 

  • Upload or send in a document to Jack for extraction
  • Review and see only ONE summarised line item on display

Step 4: Display all Line Items 

  • Click the Show Line Items button 
  • Jack will reveal all extracted line items which you can publish if you wish to

FAQ: 

1. How does it work? 

  • To balance displaying the best summarised extraction and making sure that when there are different VAT treatments for expenses, Jack splits these summaries out where relevant. So if you find there are multiple line items, that's so Jack can sure accurate VAT compliance. 
  • Where Jack has picked up different Account Codes, these will also be summarised and displayed separately, otherwise Jack wouldn't be doing his job properly. 
  • Where there's only one Account Code for all lines and no different VAT treatment, Jack will display just one summarised line. 

2. How does Jack publish to my accounting platform? 

  • Jack will only publish the line items displayed 
  • If you choose to show all line items, Jack will will publish them all

3. What description does Jack use when summarising all line items?

  • For now, Jack will select the description of the highest value line
  • We're working on making this more dynamic based on everything Jack sees on the document 

4. What Account Code does Jack use when summarising all line items?

  • For now, Jack will select the Account Code of the highest value line
  • We're working on making this more dynamic based on everything Jack sees on the document 

4. Can everything still be edited? 

  • Yes, the Quantity, Unit Price, Description, Account Code and VAT Code can still be edited before publishing.
